TLDR

Here‘s a bit of my story, and here‘s the features I believe should be implemented into CSGOEmpire.

A couple of months ago, I watched Monarch’s stream where he expressed that he felt that “Empire is the son who turned gay”. As someone who trades daily on CSGOEmpire and are able to see the market potential, this made me sad. I do however understand that with Duel.com around the corner and there are bigger fish to catch, CSGOEmpire is just a small fish in the sea. However I think CSGOEmpire’s potential is bigger than ever before.

On May 23, 2024, the landscape of Counter-Strike skin trading changed when Buff limited its services solely to Chinese citizens, leaving people around the globe searching for a new home to trade their skins.

Here’s where CSGOEmpire need to step in, offering a unique P2P skin trading service where users can buy, trade or sell their skins with 0% fees for both sellers and buyers, whether they’re looking to upgrade their inventory or cash out.

What I did so far

When I’ve been watching Monarch’s streams I’ve thought that there has been multiple things I could do that would enhance his streams, so when the job listing of Streaming Engineer was listed on the CSGOEmpire’s Careers page I applied instantly. After I applied I developed a stream bot that would help him manage the giveaways on his stream, like drawing the winners, something that I remember being stressful for him at times, but also a SteamID spam protection that prevent viewers from spamming their SteamID in chat.

Weeks went by without hearing back from anyone and during this time I complained about the state of CSGOEmpire on Discord multiple times. This caught Warren’s attention and he reached out to me on Discord and asked about what ideas I had for the future of CSGOEmpire and also told me that they are no longer hiring a Streaming Engineer. I sent Warren a spreadsheet of 30+ updates I’d do to CSGOEmpire from the top of my head. Warren asked if I had applied for any other jobs and I told him I applied for Support Staff just a few days before we started talking.

A few days later I got an email with a link to a Google Form, for doing a skill test, which I completed within the next hour. Just about a week later I was on a “vibe check”-call with two of the senior Support Staff, which I felt went well. We went thru a few support cases and I told them about my thought about the future of CSGOEmpire and linked the spreadsheet I sent to Warren earlier. They asked about where I see myself working within the company in the future and I told them my dream job would be to do what I do best, figure out new features and functions for CSGOEmpire.

In just a few days I heard that my “skills/experience doesn’t closely match the needs”.

Other job listings

After I got rejected as Support Staff, the job as UX Designer was listed and I applied for that job as well, but just a few minutes after I sent the application I got an email back that told me I don’t have the skills/experience for that job either.

About a week later, I applied for the Open/Generalist job on the Careers page, a job listing stating that they would “Build a role around your unique skills and make things happen”. I got an email about a week after telling me they wanted to have me on a call with someone “higher up”. We scheduled a call for the next day an I prepared a lot of talking points for the meeting. I felt the call was great until the person asked me what position I had applied for, then it got very clear, very fast, that this guy hadn’t read my application, nor seen my suggestions on Discord. He even asked me if I was applying for the Right-hand-man position. I told him I applied to the Open/Generalists job listing and talked a bit about my ideas for the future of CSGOEmpire. I told him that who ever is making decisions at CSGOEmpire right is either fuggin’ stupid or not at all aware of the issues on the website. In response to that he asked me about Provability Fair which I gave him a great answer for and some totally unrelated blockchain question I had no idea about.

After about 10 minutes of conversation, he told me he liked my ideas and to send him a list of features I’d want to see implemented on CSGOEmpire together with a bit of personal information about me. I did all of this within the next hour.

Today (21-10-2024) I got an email basically telling me they don’t have an immediate fit for my skill set and that many of the product improvements I’ve suggested were already in their roadmap and are actively being worked on.

Although I absolutely agree that I don’t have the academical skills or work experience for the jobs I applied to, I’m also not a fuggin’ monkey. I have a clear vision for the roadmap on how CSGOEmpire can become the top platform for skin trading. Together with the development team, I am confident in our ability to get CSGOEmpire to the market leading position it deserves.

GG for me?

I’ve tried, I’ve really tried to get a foot in the door at CSGOEmpire to help build the next level trading platform we all want, but it’s quite obvious to me that at least one (probably two or more) of the following is true.

  • They don’t see the potential in creating the leading P2P Marketplace.
  • They are just taking my ideas without a thought about compensating me.
  • Whoever is making decisions about CSGOEmpire’s future are 100% retard.
  • Someone is afraid to lose their job or to actually have to do some work.
  • They honestly tried to find a fit for me within the company, but didn’t find a suiting positions for me.

So that’s it. I poured my heart into helping CSGOEmpire, but they didn’t give me a chance.

What’s next?

  • I’m going to scream my lugns out every time they release a new feature or case without having the previous bugs fixed.
  • I’m going to laugh out loud (but with actual tears in my eyes) every time the add new features with my name on them.
  • I’m going to keep suggesting features that I think will make CSGOEmpire the best P2P marketplace.

I’ve been working on ideas for CSGOEmpire for quite some time by now. Check out some of the features I think should be added to make CSGOEmpire the best P2P marketplace for CounterStrike skins.
